There are some conditions related to oral health problems that can be symptoms of high blood sugar. The first one is dry mouth. It can cause infections and soreness. This fungal infection happens because they take antibiotics to fight against infections. Thrush can be found on gums and tongue and it makes you feel a burning sensation in your mouth.

There are many things to do to avoid these problems. The most important thing is, of course, controlling your blood sugar. As mentioned before, one of the ways to do this is to watch your food intake which means you should reduce consuming foods containing high level of sugar. Avoid consuming sugar, candies, cakes, ice cream, and other sweet foods and drinks. If doing a diet program is not enough, you need to take medication. In addition to controlling blood sugar, you can do a lot to take proper care of your mouth. Because diabetics often have a problem with dry mouth, using a mouthwash is recommended. However, make sure that the mouthwash does not contain alcohol as alcohol can make the mouth even drier. Besides, brushing after meals is crucial. Clean mouth and teeth are the keys of healthy mouth. Lastly, talk to your dentist about your condition. Let him know that you have diabetes. The dentist will suggest the medicines you should take based on your condition.
